Injustice is done towards Berguzar Korel!

Translation of the article, done by @aylinszgn on instagram (thank you):

"Wrong and injustice is done to Bergüzar Korel* (the author protects Bergüzar because she likes Bergüzar's acting): Bergüzar started to make the best of her acting skills. She does not think that she needs to be workless because of Kenan, though she works a lot. In this episode (28) we really felt Feride! I watched a Feride who is in love, angry, sad and upset! And she managed to show all these feelings in ONE scene! She also managed to make all women cry... But today I want to talk about another point. Sometimes we watch a series or a show and we criticize their acting. Yes. Sometimes I criticize the actors and you are angry with me but now we are talking about Bergüzar Korel. When Karadayi started Armagan Caglayan called her a bad actress through Twitter. After this Korel's acting started. Later this discussion stopped because the first episodes had to do with mahir and not that much with Feride. People realized this fact and that's why they stopped the discussion. It was not Feride's fault and she wouldn't have been able to take more roles than Mahir and his father. When the love between M and F started and she knew who Salih really is, everyone started to talk about her acting. So she came out of her role, she stood up to it. Up until now we saw a lovely Feride who is hardly in love with Salih. But be ready to see a woman who is angry and in love"

  1. Karadayi is a masterfully crafted play, full of action and suspense. There are some things though that could have been better, for example

    1. As the hero, Kenan takes the center-stage in everything. Granted, he is extraordinarily handsome and a good actor too. But the entire play revolves around him. So much so, that the viewers are dizzied, all other actors including the heroine are over-shadowed, and the play starts looking like a propaganda-film for Kenan. it seems the Turks wish to create their own version of James Bond which is fine. But you can live with a James Bond on the screen for 1-3 hours, but for entire seasons?????? It all gets a little tiring.

    2. Berguzar is an aging actress and quite plain-looking (except for those awesome legs!) She is quite well-suited (age-wise) for the role of the judge but looks hilarious playing the role of an innocent, love-struck or heart-broken Juliet. One can however, understand the dilemma of the producer/director. If they were to bring in someone younger/ glamorous, that would not have been suitable for the role for the Judge.

Second, it was not fair to depict her as a man-hungry cougar who started drooling over the first dashing dude that chanced into her lair! With her fantasizing about him right in the very first episodes, then kissing him and next, seducing him.....all that shatters the the traditional image of a sought-after heroine 'with a thousand lovers at her heels.' Here, she is the hunter ..... and that does not sit well with the conventionally romantic amongst us.

Third, I am pretty certain the director/ producer are men. Otherwise, why would they depict a woman Judge as a dumb airhead? Judge Feride comes off as a ping-pong ball alternatively tossed this way and that, by Mahir and Turgut/ her father. She can be coaxed, cajoled, suffer emotional breakdowns right in her chair at the court. She appears wide-eyed with her mouth opening and closing like a goldfish when Mahir discovers the fingerprints under the desk, or the safe in the deceased Sulaiman's island house. Naievty is not a virtue when it comes to a Judge.

    3. One wants the Hero to be righteous. That is not the case when Mahir dumps Ayetan on a flimsy pretext. He comes off as ‘heartless’ when it comes to Ayetan. He conveniently drops her and the viewers are not given any adequate reasons. He comes off as manipulative when he influences Feride for his own ends. Every time he succeeds in changing Feride's mind about his father's case, he turns on an ingratiating smile and starts showering her with phony praises e.g. 'you have a big heart', it is your humanity I admire, thank you for doing your job so well!" PLEAZZZZZZZZ!

    4. Despite the steamy scenes, there is no on-screen chemistry between Kenan and Berguzar. The relationship feels fake and quite forced. devoid of spontaneity. It seems that both actors are trying to project their own image and are in competition with each other for the limelight. Of-course, Kenan wins in this hands down.

If you ask me, Turgut and Nazif senior should get the award of the best actors. Turgut is the perfect villain, such a suave Satan! There is no Best Actress here, but my sympathies are with Ayetan (Malike Ipek) who suffers so much. So maybe she can get an award for that and also, for having such a pretty face and those beautiful eyes!

    SUGGESTION FOR THE ENDING
I suspect the writers will get both the hero and the heroine killed in the end. So a suggestion! Just get the heroine (Feride) killed and let Mahir go on as a lone-ranger, an avenger of justice for the oppressed, with a new heroine in every story. It will make a great Turkish Robin Hood saga!
